Ant Control in Aude, Hérault & Pyrénées-Orientales

Ants are a fact of life no matter where you live. And in the sunny south of France, we have several species that can become a real nuisance.

Ant problems can start with just a few workers in the kitchen and quickly turn into persistent trails throughout the home, terrace, garden or building perimeter.

At Gecko Pest, we identify where the ants are coming from and choose the treatment that best fits the infestation. Depending on the species and nest location, that may mean professional baiting, an interior treatment, an exterior treatment, or a more targeted approach for carpenter ants and other difficult infestations.

We provide professional ant control throughout Aude, Hérault and the Pyrénées-Orientales, with prices starting from €125. Let's take a look at the different ants in Perpignan, Montpellier, Beziers, and Carcassonne, and see how you can coexist with these hard-working but annoying creatures.

Why Do I Have Ants in My Home?

Ants usually enter homes for one of three things: food, water or shelter. Finding ants indoors doesn't necessarily mean your home is dirty. A few crumbs, pet food, moisture around a sink, or simply a convenient route inside can be enough to attract foraging workers.

In southern France, ant activity is particularly noticeable during the warmer months. Colonies that are normally outside can send workers surprisingly long distances in search of resources, which is why you may find a trail of ants in your kitchen even though the nest itself is somewhere in the garden.

Ant Control FAQs

How much does professional ant treatment cost?

Our ant bait treatments start from €125 per visit, while professional spray treatments start from €250. The best option depends on the ant species, where they are nesting, and the extent of the infestation.

How many ant bait treatments will I need?

It varies. Some infestations respond quickly, while larger or more established colonies may require several visits. Ants can also change their food preferences during the season, so we may need to adjust the bait being used. Spraying usually resolves problems more quickly, often in a single treatment, while baiting will usually require multiple treatments for full control.

Do I need to leave my home during ant treatment?

Not for our standard bait treatments. Bait is placed in targeted locations, and you can normally remain in the property.

If we carry out an interior spray treatment, people and pets will need to stay away from treated areas for the period required by the product being used. We will explain this before treatment.

Is ant treatment safe around pets and children?

We choose treatment locations and methods with people and pets in mind. Baits are applied in small, targeted placements, while any spray treatment is carried out according to the product label and its re-entry requirements.

Let us know beforehand if there are children, pets, aquariums or other animals in the property so we can plan the treatment appropriately.

Why do my ants keep coming back?

The ants you see are usually only foraging workers. Killing them doesn't necessarily affect the nest, queen or developing young. If the colony remains active, new workers can simply replace the ones that were killed.

Should I spray ants myself before you arrive?

Preferably not. Spraying visible ants can disrupt trails that help us determine where they are coming from, and repellent insecticides can interfere with bait treatments.

With some species, particularly Pharaoh ants, spraying can actually make the infestation more difficult to control by encouraging colonies to split and spread.

How long does it take to get rid of ants?

Spray treatments can reduce visible activity relatively quickly. Baiting is deliberately slower because workers need time to feed on the bait and carry it back towards the colony.

The overall time required depends on the species, size and location of the colony and whether there are multiple nests.

Can you guarantee the ants won't come back?

No responsible pest controller can guarantee that ants will never return. New colonies can establish outside, and ants can enter a property again in search of food or water.

Our aim is to control the current infestation, while also identifying obvious entry points or conditions that may be contributing to the problem.

Do you treat ants outside as well as inside?

Yes. We provide both interior and exterior ant treatments. Outdoor infestations may involve nests beneath paving, terraces, around foundations, in gardens or elsewhere around the building.

Do you treat carpenter ants?

Yes. Carpenter ants require a different approach from many common nuisance ants and often involve locating and directly treating the nesting area.

Because these infestations can be more complex, carpenter ant treatment starts from €300.

What areas do you cover?

We provide professional ant control throughout Aude, Hérault and Pyrénées-Orientales, including Narbonne, Carcassonne, Béziers, Perpignan, and surrounding communities.
